WHAT TYPE OF CUSTOM TIE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

At Distino Custom Ties, we simply offer two different fabric options for your ties; pure woven silk or a microfibre polyester. Below you will find examples of what fabric we would recommend for your ties relative to your requirements. There is no steadfast rule to the examples below, however it will help you determine which fabric is right for you.

WHEN SHOULD I CHOOSE MICROFIBRE POLYESTER OVER WOVEN SILK ?

Distino Custom Ties recommends the use of silk for most ties other than in circumstances when the ties will be subjected to heavy wear & tear. The reason for this is that silk ties are composed of thousands of silk strands that when scratched or brushed heavily can come away from the tie and begin looking old and tired. In these circumstances, the use of microfibre polyster is recommended as it is more durable over longer periods of time.

WHAT'S THE ADVANTAGE OF WOVEN SILK ?

The advantage of woven silk over microfibre polyester is simply the look and feel of the tie is easily distinguishable from polyester. Woven silk ties have a soft, thick and highly textured feel and are generally considered more refined.

It is also important to note that some companies will sell printed silk ties rather than woven silk ties. The difference is that the printed silk ties are flat and have no texture to the fabric. Printed silk ties generally look and are cheaper than woven silk.
